What YOU can do
HOPS, or bill #200425, addresses the health of our communities at a time when we are experiencing both a pandemic and a climate crisis. Philly's City Council rose to the occasion and showed it is possible and necessary for local government to protect the public, including people with chronic health conditions and essential workers exposed to Covid-19. Both groups happen to be disproportionately people of color.
However, Mayor Kenney instructed Parks and Recreation to disregard the law, thereby refusing to enforce it. Much needed time to plan and train for an organic transition has been squandered, with all departments still broadcast spraying dangerous toxic herbicides after their prohibition came into effect on July 28th, 2022.
Mayor Parker now has the to chance to reverse Kenney's illegal stance and ensure the proper implementation of this unanimously passed law, which Parker herself co-sponsored.
Contact Mayor Parker and demand that she enforce her own law.

Weaning off our city’s addiction to toxic herbicides does not mean our lands will not be managed at all; they will just be managed more responsibly – organically. Help us help you, as all of us are exposed and at risk.
